Music must have been released to market, radio stations or online media in any local or international market between March 2009 and May 2010.

Materials for consideration for any category must fall within that category either explicitly or if more than 50 of materials fall within that category implicitly.

Individual or establishments must by wholly or partially Nigerian to be considered for any Award category.

Individual or establishments can be a resident of any country to be considered for any Award category.

All eligible materials shall be considered regardless of whether submitted or not. Any materials submitted will become the property of NEA Awards and can be used as marketing materials for Award show production without approval.

Artistes can only submit materials which that have rights. The producers of NEA shall be under the assumption that artist (or associate) has exclusive rights to all materials submitted, NEA is not liable for any materials submitted in which the person does not have the rights.

Best Collaboration with Vocals category will be awarded to both the lead artist and the collaborating artist.

Music Video Awards and Best Films go to the director.

Best TV series/Reality show/Game show will go to the original broadcasting network.

Lifetime Achievement Awards and Entertainment Personality of the year Awards are determined by the producers of NEA.

There are nine total judges. The judges represent individuals in the entertainment media, entertainment executives, DJ’s, comedians, producers etc., each with many years of experience in the entertainment scene and a clear understanding of the Nigeria entertainment industry.

NEA will not reveal the identities of the judges until the day of the event in order to prevent any unnecessary pressure or bias by any artist.

Each judge is required to submit their top picks per category. The NEA Selection committee will then tally all judges selections based on frequency of occurrence.

 

NEA selects their Award show performers based on ability to stick to performance script, the number of nomination for that year, genre of music, stage performance capability, and availability of the artist to attend the show. The performer must also meet all NEA eligibility rules and the performance and labor laws of city of New York.
