1) Why is NEA held in America
The growth of Nigerian entertainment transcends beyond the shores of Africa, thus our decision to create a platform to facilitate such by recognizing the achievement of our entertainers while introducing more of them to the world outside of Nigeria.
2) Is NEA always held in NYC
No, the first ever NEA was held in Maryland and 2009 edition was held in D.C. The other events have been held in NYC. The reason for northeast cities is due to the population concentration of Nigerians and NYC as the world capital of entertainment, presents an opportunity to include Nigerian event as past of the city.
3) What is NEA's goals
Our goal is to advance the talents of Nigerian entertainers. As simple as that may sound, we believe that NEA's growth will have direct impact on the advancement of Nigeria entertainment industry
4) How does artists get nominated
There are couple of ways artist get nominated. For entertainers resident in Nigeria, they don't have to do anything special. There is a nomination committee comprising of industry executives and press personnel that are tasked with annual review of entertainers body of work and that is how we get recommendations. For those resident outside Nigeria, NEA issues a call for submission of materials through official press release.
5) How are winners determined
winning NEA award is an aggregate of fan voting, committee voting and statistical methodology tying record play, sales and online hits.
6) Why does NEA exclude categories such as fashion and modeling?
85% of our categories are consistent every year covering music and films. We believe this is core of entertainment. 15% of categories always change to reflect the growth of any segment of entertainment that we believe should be recognized such as 'best world dj' 'best comedian'
7)Who is behind NEA
NEA is produced by its executive team, who are founding members. Also, NEA team comprises of associate producers, coordinating committee and volunteers that are instrumental in putting together the success NEA has achieved to date.
